Summer Racing Season
EPPING AQUATIC CENTRE
SATURDAY MORNING CLUB RACES
- Club races will be held each Saturday from 17 October 2009 to 20 March 2010 (except 26/12/09 and 02/01/10).
- Starting time each Saturday will be 7:45am for a 8:00 race start
- First and third races will be handicap.
- Second and fourth races will be scratch.
- For handicap and scratch races, points will be awarded as per the table on page 5.
- All club championship events will receive normal points as per a scratch race.
- Points will be totalled over the season and trophies awarded on Presentation Day. Points are combined into 2 categories:- the “15 and 25” metre events and the “50, 100, 200 and 400” metre events. If a swimmer progresses from the 25m to the ‘50m and above’ events, all their points will be tallied together, into the group in which most points were achieved. Trophies are awarded for 1st,2nd,3rd point score winners for each stroke, in each of the categories. A trophy is also awarded to the Grand Aggregate swimmer in each of the categories (ie the 15-25m and the 100-400m events), who has the most points overall.
RACE RULES
- Swimmers may swim in a maximum of FOUR races per Saturday consisting of 2 handicap races and 2 scratch races. (Championship races will generally be the second race of the day.)
- Stroke order is displayed in the centre of the log book where times can also be written down.
- Once an event has been called, swimmers for that event must report to, and remain in the marshalling area.
- Swimmers’ names will be called twice only in the marshalling area.
- Race meetings are conducted under the rules of the New South Wales Swimming Association Inc. For a brief explanation of the rules relating to each stroke, see the back of the log book.
RACE ENTRIES
- Race entry fees (excluding championships), have been incorporated into the membership fees.
- *** Entries / changes to event distances, for the FOLLOWING Saturday’s races should be submitted at the race entry table during Saturday morning’s races, otherwise the same events shall be allocated. ***
- Swimmers who know they will be absent (e.g. on holidays) may submit “advance date” entries / changes to event distances, during Saturday morning races for the Saturday they return.
- If absent on 2 consecutive Saturday morning swim days, without notifying the Handicapper, the swimmer will not be automatically entered for subsequent Saturday morning swims.
OTHER RACES and RELAYS
- The Family Handicap Relay (instead of 4th race) will be held on January 16, 2010 - watch the Newsletter for details.
- A swimathon will be held on January 30, 2010 (instead of the 4th race). This will be a fundraising event to help provide club equipment. All swimmers are encouraged to swim as far as they can in 30 minutes and obtain sponsorship based on laps swum. More details will be provided in the club newsletter.
